Energy production fueled by biogas - containing primarily methane - is not a new science. In Europe, farmers have been harvesting methane and converting it to electricity and heat for many years. Germany boasts over 4000 of the existing 6000 systems in Europe, and our team members have designed over 300 of these!
The technology has been greatly refined. Historically in the United States, "anaerobic digesters" have been built for the purpose of manure management on farms. Today's "biogas systems" can create much more energy from a long list of feedstocks; they combine the concept of manure management with efficient energy production through the use of a large variety of digestible waste products.
